From idea to flying object
The process from an initial idea to an object in the webshop consists of many steps. It begins with the search for the ideal shape, which can be made in a maximum of four flat parts.
Next, the proportions of the body and wings are addressed, where weight also plays a crucial role for a realistic flight. Finally, the painting follows, where the challenge is to keep the design simple, yet unique and characteristic of the animal.
Precision and patience
What makes these flying animals unique is the attention paid to the natural flight of each animal. No bird flies the same way; mimicking this while not losing sight of elegance is a matter of extreme precision and patience.
Each piece is crafted with care and craftsmanship, resulting in an object that is not only beautiful but also tells a story.
It is a matter of endless experimentation and trial and error where we continue to gain more experience with how each wooden bird on two strings best mimics the flight of its living counterpart.
The joy of a perfect flight
Every time a bird takes its first flight, there is tension. Does the bird hover beautifully still, do the wings move smoothly, and does the flight belong to the animal? When, after various adjustments, the perfect flight is finally flown, the new bird is a reality. The joy of bringing yet another animal to life is just as wonderful every single time.
